Haiti

Good morning, Hope all is well. I was contacting you to let you know that I am going on my 6th trip to Haiti and my 5th trip to Fr. Marc’s ESPWA village. This is the first time I have organized the trip and will be going with another NP on May 5th. My bags are light but my hopes are high for a successful visit. I will be visiting the Timmy Foundation next week to bring some donated medical supplies. Ryan Venis has also offered to load me down with some Tylenol and Multivitamins. So maybe my bags will not be so light J I am asking you to make a donation to http://www.freethekids.org/ to the clinic for as little as $10. All donations are tax deductible and you can ear mark it to go to the clinic that serves over 700 children. ESPWA is an amazing place that provides children the hope of a future in Haiti. ESPWA literally means hope. Please help me make their futures health too. Thank you for whatever you want to give. Hilary

The Wedding

                                                  May 20th 2010

Gary and I were married in our home with family as witnesses. It was a beautiful and exciting day. The morning of the wedding, the girls went to A ‘Do hair solon in Broad Ripple and drank mimosas, while the boys bought ties. The wedding party later met on the grounds of the IMA for photos. This was the first time Gary saw my dress! After several pictures by John Gentry, we arrived back at our home and were married by Judge Smith-Scott. She is the Judge that presides over all the court marriages for Marion County. It was a short and very well done ceremony. After our “I do’s”, the part went to the Corner Wine Bar for dinner. This restaurant is one of our favorites and Liza Zapata, co-owner, made the night one to remember. After dinner and drinks Gary and I stayed at the Conrad Indianapolis hotel. My brother bought the two of us messages in the room the next day. It was a wonderful day, night, and morning after. We only hope our reception will bring the same joy as our wedding day. We are very excited to see you all and share our wedding and trip with you.

Love

Pokhara

Well, it’s near the very end of our honeymoon, and we have had a wonderful time and wanted to let everyone know that we are fine. Pokhara is beautiful with a lake just outside our hotel. We are going to take a boat ride in about 5 minutes on the lake and get a wonderful view of the mountains. It’s surprisingly warm here in Pokhara and feels near the same temperature as when we were in the Chitwan forest. Chitwan was great. As soon as we arrived at the Machan resort we took an elephant safari and got caught in a monsoon rain inside the forest. Hilary and I thought it was a lot of fun. We just laughed a lot and smiled the whole time. Still on elephant safari on our way back from the jungle to the resort the rain lightened the sun was setting over the Himalayas behind us and in front of us was a rainbow. It was a sign of good things to come in more ways than one. Gary went on a jeep safari through the jungle to get off and try and track a tiger on a path through 8 foot tall elephant grass on the way back to a small stream. He’s still alive, because he did not see one. He made sure to stick by the oldest guide as much as he could. The plan was simply according to the crazy grinned small old guide, “we’re going to get off the truck and go back to the stream and see what happens.” I still can’t believe I agreed to do that. See you all soon.
